Try Something Different from Monday to Sunday in Luxury Cape Town
We can’t knock the well-known Cape Town activities that have inspired bucket lists all over the planet. However, sometimes there’s more fun to be had when you break away from the pack during your visit to the Mother city.
Here are a couple of ideas to try out every day of the week during your luxury Cape Town stay.
Monday – SUP Yoga
Say goodbye to the Monday blues and hello to inner peace accompanied by the soothing sounds of lapping water and glorious ocean views at the Camps Bay tidal pool. SUP yoga is offered daily during the summer months from December to March.
Tuesday – Get Airborne
Get a bird’s eye view of the winelands at sunrise from a hot air balloon over Paarl. Afterward, you can discuss the high start to your day over a full breakfast at the Grande Roche hotel.
Wednesday – Wine Tastings
Try one, or both, of these unique wine tours to add that extra edge to your adventures.
Take a Tuk-Tuk
The variety of wine-related activities around the Mother city offer inspiration enough, but it’s how you get there that makes the real difference. Tuk-Tuk wine tours depart from the Stellenbosch Information Centre every day of the week.
You can take a half-day spin around the Lanzerac, Morgenhof and Simonsig estates or head out for the whole day. This longer ride includes a chocolate and wine-pairing experience at Waterford and lunch at Neil Ellis.
Head for the Hills
Durbanville is one of the lesser-known (but no less accomplished) wine routes around Cape Town. Here, Klein Roosboom Estate along Tygerberg Valley Road offers real spoils when it comes to wine tasting. This intimate event takes place in a ‘cave’ specially built to provide an eclectic wine-tasting experience. Inside you’ll find comfy cushions, vintage furniture and interesting trinkets to amuse and delight. The wine isn’t half bad either!
Tea on Thursday
Head back to Paarl to indulge in a sumptuous Tea under the Trees at St Pieter’s Roche. You will spot the locals with both their dogs and their kids in tow for an afternoon of civilised fun.
Learn a new skill at Wild Clover Farm in Stellenbosch with a spot of clay-pigeon shooting. Groups are welcome and there are a variety of packages to choose from.
Indulge in an extravaganza of Greek culture at Mykonos Taverna in Sea Point on the last Saturday of every month. It’s the real deal with moussaka, mezze, dancing and traditional plate smashing.
Sunday Afternoon Drive
Scenic drives take on a whole new meaning when you’re in a luxury vehicle from Classic Cars. You can hire these collectors’ cars for up to 2 days and they are a sure way to add some spice to date night.
Skip the crowds on your next visit with these lesser-known luxury Cape Town experiences.
