Keeping the Kids Active in Cape Town during Winter

If you are heading for a stay in Cape Town with Self-Catering Accommodation this winter, you’re in for a treat!

The Mother City is an awesome place to spend some time year-round and there are plenty of activities to keep the kids entertained in any kind of weather.

Here’s our top selection of winter activities for children in Cape Town:

Take a Shot in The Dark

Glow-in-the-dark mini golf at Glowing Rooms SA is a great take on this popular kiddies’ activity. UV lights, 3d murals, disco lights and a luminous 3D course set the scene for hit and miss fun that all ages can enjoy. Children as young as 18 months can take part and granny and gramps are welcome too.
You can don your 3D glasses and grab a putter every Friday and Saturday from 10am to 7pm and Sundays from 10am until 4pm.

All-Weather Fun

Bugz Playpark is your go-to place for getting rid of childlike energy on gloomy days. This indoor arena of age-appropriate climbing frames, ball games, slides and chutes keeps the youngsters busy for hours while mum and dad enjoy a meal and warming beverage. On sunny days, the fun continues outside with water slides, an animal farm, pony rides and a mini amusement park to enjoy.
Bugz Playpark is open for fun from Monday to Sunday 9am to 5pm.

Put a Spring in Their Step

Bouncy fun is on the card at Rush Indoor Trampoline park every day of the week in Claremont. Wall to wall trampolines, a battle beam, basketball slam dunk lanes and dodgeball sessions will keep even the most active youngsters engaged all day.
The northern reaches of Cape Town boasts the newly opened 23 Jump Street at the recently completed Table May Mall. Adults can enjoy a snack, take advantage of the free Wi-Fi or join in the action.

Beat the Clock

Older children with a need for speed love the non-stop action at Kenilworth Karting where they can whizz around to their heart’s content. The 140cc go-karts are specially designed for kids with hydraulic brakes for extra safety.
This activity is open to all children over 1.5m in height every day from 10.30am to 11pm.

Go Down Under

The Two Oceans Aquarium is a great destination for fun and learning any day of the year. Children love the interactive displays and interesting creatures that you’ll find here and the whole family can lose themselves for hours in this fascinating underwater world.
