Casa Restaurant & Cabanas at the New Ritz, Sea Point
Fancy a bit of all-day dining with a view during your stay in Cape Town accommodation? Try out one of Cape Town’s most glamorous resort-style restaurants.
Located on the first floor of the newly-refurbished Ritz in Sea Point, the Casa restaurant is an elegant but relaxed eatery overlooking the sophisticated palm-fringed pool area of the hotel.
The restaurant was included in the recent R120 million revamp of the premises and is looking more swish than ever before since the makeover.
From the moment you arrive, you are surrounded by glamorous interior-design, from the tall gold palms framing the white-marble foyer, to the retro-chic banana-leaf wall-paper which imitates that of the Beverley Hills Hotel in LA.
Sip on pre-dinner champagne at the poolside bar before adjourning to one of the 500 seats inside where you’ll find a menu that matches the laid-back Miami style of this venue.
What’s on the Menu
Entrées provide a choice of Avocado Ritz with a twist, fat fresh oysters, steak tartare or succulent calamari among others.
The salad selection offers a choice between Caesar salad with all the trimmings or a chunky, wholesome Greek salad.
Sushi aficionados will love the variety of fishy bites up for grabs – they take up a whole page of the menu!
Pizzas are whisked piping hot out of the traditional wood-fired oven laden with combinations of bacon, lamb, chicken, brie, pineapple, artichokes or peppers as preferred, and dripping with soft, delicate mozzarella cheese.
The main course menu begins with a surprise – you can order mac and cheese at this sophisticated eatery. After that the meals are a little more mainstream with a choice of steaks, burgers, gnocchi, schnitzel, chicken Peri-Peri, espetada and lamb lollipops. The seafood platter for two is the crowning glory of this concise selection.
The kiddies’ menu is a treat for fussy youngsters with pizza, burgers and spaghetti with meatballs up for grabs.
If you have room for dessert, spoil yourself with creme brulèe, tiramisu, caramel fondant or fridge tart.
